Although winter might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of camping, it’s certainly possible to enjoy the freedom and camaraderie that camping offers during this season.

Julianahoeve is a campground that’s open year-round, which is why winter camping is also possible here. Reserve a spot for a tent, RV, or trailer, or rent a bungalow or chalet. Winter camping is ideal for people who want to unwind in nature. Of course, it can be a bit colder in the winter, but with proper preparation, it’s a wonderful place to stay.

Campground in Zeeland that’s open year-round

There’s plenty to do in Zeeland during the winter. Renesse transforms into a Winter Village where you can enjoy strolling through the cozily lit streets. Or take a lovely walk through the woods or along the beach. After your walk, warm up with a hot chocolate topped with a delicious dollop of whipped cream at Strandpaviljoen Zuid-Zuid-West while the kids play indoors at the Atlantica indoor playground. Pure bliss, right?! During Christmas, the campground transforms into a Winter Wonderland. The campground is fully decked out in Christmas decorations, and the entertainment program also has a Christmas theme.

You can also warm up by taking a dip in the heated indoor pool. Adults can relax in the wellness center. Give your muscles a break in the infrared sauna or unwind completely in the steam room. The kids can race each other down one of the slides and splash around in the big pool.

Our outdoor playgrounds are also open year-round—dress warmly and try out the slides, climbing nets, or the zip line. Prefer something more active? Play a game of soccer in the soccer cage or challenge each other to a game of basketball.

Staying Overnight at the Julianahoeve During the Winter

Our chalets are available for rent year-round. They are heated, making them ideal for a winter stay. Choose a child-friendly Juultje Chalet near Juultjes Zwemparadijs, or opt for peace and quiet in one of the lodges set among the dunes.

Did you know... the Zeester Lodge even has a sauna? In this infrared sauna, you can truly unwind during your winter stay!

Things to Do in Zeeland in Winter

Even in winter, Zeeland is a wonderful destination for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation. The expansive beaches, fresh sea air, and peaceful natural surroundings make this time of year especially special.

Zeeland’s nature reserves, such as the Oosterschelde and Boswachterij Westerschouwen, are stunning in winter and perfect for a walk or birdwatching. During the winter months, various towns host cozy winter markets, Christmas activities, and events. After a day outdoors, it’s especially nice to return to a comfortable chalet or campsite, where you can warm up and enjoy the peace and quiet.

  • Zeelicht Zierikzee (December 5–12, 2026): An impressive light art festival where the historic downtown of Zierikzee is transformed into an atmospheric evening stroll filled with light art and installations.
  • Zeeland Winter Fair (November 27–29, 2026): A new winter fair in Noordwelle featuring over 100 vendors, local products, winter treats, and entertainment.
  • Zeeland Christmas Fair (December 19 & 20, 2026): A cozy Christmas fair in Burgh-Haamstede with stalls, live music, local products, and winter treats.
